Reverse osmosis, also known as hyper-filtration, is the finest filtration known. This process will allow the removal of particles as small as ions from a solution. Reverse osmosis is used to purify water and remove salts and other impurities in order to improve the color, taste or properties of the fluid. It can be used to purify fluids such as ethanol and glycol, which will pass through the reverse osmosis membrane, while rejecting other ions and contaminants from passing. Reverse osmosis uses a membrane that is semi-permeable, allowing the fluid that is being purified to pass through it, while rejecting the contaminants that remain. Reverse osmosis is capable of rejecting bacteria, salts, sugars, proteins, particles, dyes, and other constituents that have a molecular weight of greater than 150-250 daltons. The separation of ions with reverse osmosis is aided by charged particles. This means that dissolved ions that carry a charge, such as salts, are more likely to be rejected by the membrane than those that are not charged, such as organics. The larger the charge and the larger the particle, the more likely it will be “rejected.”Rejection is the term used to describe what a reverse osmosis filter removes from the source water. The main reason I wanted to leave this review is to emphasize how great the water flow-through
rate is for this filter. This filter was a replacement for the one on our Whirlpool fridge that had a model number ending in 08. This one (ending in 10P) also fits our fridge (same size and shape as the old one) and the greatest thing is that the water dispenser now has greater water pressure than it has ever had. No more waiting forever to fill a coffee pot carafe! Water tastes great and the cyst reducing feature is another bonus. What else is there to want from a filter?
If this model is indicated as a replacement for what you have -then this two-pack is the way to go.

I live in an apartment and a few months ago I got new neighbors in the apartment below. They smoke constantly and often have parties with 8-10 people in a tiny apartment all smoking all night. The building is old, the smoke comes through not only the ventilation system, but directly through the floors and fills my apartment with the disgusting stench of Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS). This unit saved me from having to move. It’s that good.
The HEGA filter is particularly good at removing gas molecules and thus odors and ETS. I have allergies, but they’re manageable – I bought this primarily for odor and ETS control and to that end, it works perfectly.
It’s much quieter than I though possible for something that moves so much air. Even on the highest setting, I can easily sleep in the same room with it. Some may be more sensitive to noise, but it’s much quieter than some IQAir models that I’ve heard. On the lowest setting, it’s barely audible.
I keep the unit in a largish living room/dining room/kitchen area in my one bedroom apartment and it cleans the air effectively. When combined with the air circulation of my AC unit, it does a great job of filling the apartment with clean, smoke free air.
